Achieving your personal best in health and fitness is a journey fueled by motivation, honed through the realization of your potential, and sustained by unwavering persistence. Whether you’re an aspiring athlete or a seasoned competitor, the path to triumph is paved with dedication and hard work. To push beyond your limits and closer to your personal best, consider these four truisms.

  • Achieve Your Personal Best: Athletes of all levels benefit from motivation, potential, and perseverance to triumphally accomplish their health and fitness goals.
  • Success Begins with Motivation: Motivation drives every achievement in local and state competitions or the Olympic Games.
  • The Next Step Toward Victory is Realizing Your Potential: Proper training and guidance can transform potential into skill and talent while preventing injury. The right coach is essential to ensure you perform the most efficient and effective workouts to achieve your goals.
  • Finishing Requires Persistence: Persistence is an unwavering blend of discipline and dedication that pushes athletes to overcome obstacles and never give up. Persistence is the heartbeat of athletes in their incredible quests to succeed.

An Insider Look at Elizabeth Luther’s Fitness Career

Spartan Racing has challenged me mentally and physically. Yet, as with many things in life, the most demanding tasks are often the most rewarding, and overcoming the challenges in Spartan racing has become one of the most fun and fulfilling accomplishments of my athletic career.

There are four Spartan races: a 5k with 20+ obstacles, a 10k with 25+ obstacles, a 21k with 30+ obstacles, and a 30+ mile ultra with over 35 obstacles. All races are trail runs with varying altitude and elevation gain. I have had the opportunity to race and compete at the competitive level and achieved pro status in my second year of racing. Spartan provides a great community experience and recognizes each accomplishment and milestone in your racing career.

I’ve always been highly self-motivated, but motivation isn’t all it takes to succeed. Motivation is what gets you started, but discipline is what keeps you going. Obstacle course racing was never something I pictured in my future. I began racing because my boyfriend dreamed of completing the three major races (5, 10, and 21k) in a calendar year. I competed with him merely to be his support and encouragement. I can undoubtedly say that the support we gave to each other aided in my drive and success.

Accomplishing goals with the support of someone you care about makes the goal more meaningful. I strive to incorporate this in my personal training career. My clients are more than business acquaintances to me; therefore, I strive to develop meaningful relationships with everyone I can help succeed. Having someone in your corner to cheer you on makes every win that much better. I always tell my clients: “You may not always be motivated, but you can always be disciplined.”
